A Brief History

In 1876, prayer services began in the McCree Family home until the first church was built on Popular Street in Southern Pines, NC. In 1955, the church built and started occupying it's current location. In the 1970's, the church merged with the more than 5,100 UCC churches and 1.1 million members across the United States. Sandhill UCC serves God in the co-creation of a just and sustainable world. The UCC is a church of firsts, a church of extravagant welcome, and a church where "...they may all be one" (John 17:21)..

The church seeks to be the voice of God to speak and act prophetically in dealing with social justice issues within the local community.
